My birthday!

Its the 22nd of May 2011 at exactly 12mn...

i was getting ready to sleep. i received my gifts from my family in the states earlier that day (may 21) and i left it in my bed while i went to Ayala for a quick munch.. when i came home with my roomate, it was almost 12mn. then i went to my room and fixed my messy bed before anything else.

suddenly, my roomate opened the window wide enough so i can see the outside... i saw balloons floating in the night sky and i went out to see all my housemates singing happy birthday at the bottom of my room. there was cake and lots and lots of helium balloon and a portrait of me sketched in charcoal.

i was stunned because i never had something like this all my life. then i cried.. because i was so happy i can't contain myself. the tears streaked in my eyes like waterfalls (exxag) and i thanked God for the blessing of friends..
it was one of those birthdays i will never forget. its in the simple things that makes me happy.. simple gestures like this.
thank you: Thesa for being the awesome mastermind.. Zara for the best actress awardee.. Thank you Isay for waking up at 12mn just to greet me, Ple- Ple, Twinkle, Bene, Tan-tan and lil sis Joelle for helping out with the preparations. I know you guys were busy but it was amazing that you found time for me. :)
Will always be happy! I know people like you will be around.

I love it. Happy birthday indeed.

And oh..
few days later, my boyfriend had his fair share of surprise. :) i got it on my phone! my favorite minion! he wasn't able to find it in any malls in the states but was able to get it by playing a game in Six Flags in New Jersey. It was one - eyed DAVE!

And a bouquet of flowers and more stuff.. but the best gift ever was HIS TIME. :) I couldn't ask for more.

I am truly blessed.

Issue no. 3: Bin Laden and the Whole World

Wed May 11, 12:04 pm ET

Bin Laden family condemns killing, while wife says one son escaped

By Zachary Roth

Osama bin Laden's family is taking center stage in the fallout over his death.
Yesterday, the al Qaeda leader's sons denounced what they called their father's "arbitrary killing." Meanwhile, Pakistani officials believe one of bin Laden's sons--perhaps one known as "the Crown Prince of Terror"--may be missing after escaping from the U.S. raid.
In a statement, bin Laden's sons questioned why their father "was not arrested and tried in a court of law so that the truth is revealed to the people of the world." It is not known how many of bin Laden's numerous sons (there are believed to be as many as 17) endorsed the statement.
"We maintain that arbitrary killing is not a solution to political problems," the statement continued, adding that "justice must be seen to be done."
President Obama has rejected suggestions that the killing was improper, telling "60 Minutes" that anyone who questioned whether bin Laden deserved his fate "needs to have their head examined."
The sons' statement, which also called for bin Laden's three wives and several children to be released from custody, is said to have been prepared at the direction of Omar bin Laden, 30.
Omar bin Laden, a metals trader who has been living in Cairo, appears at pains to disassociate himself from his father's belief in political violence. "We want to remind the world that Omar bin Laden, the fourth-born son of our father, always disagreed with our father regarding any violence and always sent messages to our father, that he must change his ways and that no civilians should be attacked under any circumstances," the statement said.
It continued: "Despite the difficulty of publicly disagreeing with our father, he never hesitated to condemn any violent attacks made by anyone, and expressed sorrow for the victims of any and all attacks."
In a separate statement posted on a jihadist website yesterday, the sons accused President Obama of ordering "a criminal mission" that "obliterated an entire defenseless family ... contrary to the most basic human sentiment."
And they objected to the decision to bury their father at sea, which some Islamic scholars also have questioned. "It is unacceptable--humanely and religiously--to dispose of a person with such importance and status among his people, by throwing his body into the sea in that way, which demeans and humiliates his family and his supporters and which challenges religious provisions and feelings of hundreds of millions of Muslims," the statement read.
Separately, ABC News reports that one of bin Laden's wives, who was captured in the U.S. raid, has told Pakistani investigators that one of the terror leader's sons escaped and is missing. Pakistani officials are said to have done a head count, and to believe it's true, though U.S. officials say they're confident no one escaped during or after the raid.
"Out of 21, one person is not accounted for," a Pakistani intelligence official told ABC. "I believe that's the son."
Pakistani investigators are probing whether the son could be 22-year-old Hamza bin Laden, known as "The Crown Prince of Terror." Hamza was credited with writing a poem praising the 2005 London bombings, and was accused by Pakistani prime minister Benazir Bhutto of attempting to assassinate her. Bhutto was killed by Islamic extremists in 2007.
Bin Laden's wives are currently being questioned by Pakistani investigators in a safe house. It's not clear if U.S. officials will be given the chance to question them directly.

My personal reaction:

Let me start with a line : a tooth for a tooth, an eye for an eye.
Its not the same. With issues like this, it is not the same. See, the United States of America is still currently feeling the recession, which means their economy is going down. I believe they put up such desperate attempt to upscale their economy through killing Osama bin Laden (which was always mistyped as Obama bin Laden). Meanwhile, I pushed about with my normal day to day life while everyone felt upset, horrified, happy or even celebrated such predicament.
I don't think I would boost anything. I don't think it would decrease the issues on Oil price hike. I have speculations that the "real Osama bin Laden" is alive and kicking. I believe this is an act of the US to even out with the terrorist control. This is my blog and this is my point of view.
I was adept to the issues regarding the terrorism attack. It was 9/11/2001 when my dad left home. His flight was around 9am that same day the terrorists bombarded the twin tower. It was the flight time with my dad but different planes. I was horrified, scared and crying my eyes out that day. It was a dreadful day. I was absent in class and watched the news for the longest time ever. I was in high school so I barely understood anything but screams and cries, I was most attentive that day... But thank goodness, it wasn't the same plane my dad took that time. Sigh of relief.

Now after a decade of outrage, the news about Osama bin Laden and the terrorism attack was never new to me, until the past few days. Headline reads : Osama dead, Obama killed Osama.
The state said it was one of the most relinquished moments. When people asked for proof, US government were more "for security purposes", I mean what the heck is that all about?
Let's talk business. US still suffer from financial crises, import price rises amidst growth overseas and still weak dollar, jobs are not gaining.
Here in the Philippines, nothing much happened.
Clearly, this move is not as effective as they expected. Investors still seek better horizon.
I think they should do something worthwhile than talk about Osama being dead, I mean even P Noy has something to say about it, like WTH! He should do something better.
Calling all effective citizens, can we please do something about this? Inflation still continues in the world market, officials are still corrupt and Philippines is still in POVERTY!

DEMAND/SUPPLY Presentation

I really appreciated that all the hard work had been paid off especially with the Midterm presentation.
We really don't have much time to prepare and having to create an outstanding realm out of economic concepts maybe one of the most challenging things I have ever encountered.

First and foremost, my dear groupmates are unfamiliar faces to me. Having to open up and vocalize would only mean one thing - courage.

Pep talk is not really my specialty, but when it comes to this, I would feel better if I had done something good at the end of the day.
First, our teacher asked us to create something out of the ordinary about the concepts of supply and demand... and by God, he wants us to be funny and creative.

Adept my inner soul, I was challenged by the episode. My mind was swirling into nothingness as I went to seek my group :(
I did my best to suit up the expected behavior. I never wanted to be the leader in the first place.. I just want to play the part of what has to be, but at the end of the day, i was challenged by the goodness of my lack of understanding towards other people and work hard to achieve a common goal - GOOD GRADES.

So I did my extra hard (despite the hectic schedule of my work hours), I long to create this justifiable play the justice it deserves... and i want to put the people in its right places without having to look foolish.

I know, when we started the play, everyone wasn't really paying much attention, they were either busy getting ready for their part, changing clothes or moving along the corridors because they needed the strength for their own performances.. I expected high on audience that day because I had been planning to be as funny and crazy as can be.. but lest, only few paid much attention, moreover understood what the story was all about.

So we did.. and here's the play itself:

totality of the presentation

Ok, so there had been technical problems during the presentation, because the player stopped playing!! so I freaked out a little but the good thing is that.. my groupmates we active and danced even without the music on!

What a relief! And although the credit part was bit fully appreciated because the audio was having issues, i hope through here you can see and appreciated what I did. :)

Cheers for my group mates!
And thank you so much for the cooperation. Job well done guys.

Marco Polo

before my swim practice

after a month of hassle and bustles... i was able to find time for myself... this is my comfort zone.
so today, i was able to do my 20 laps and breathing exercises. it's not much since I was exhausted from school (which ended around 5:30pm), changed and went swimming in Marco Polo.

I have decided to find time doing this because I think I needed a break.. All the rest of my family is out there having summer fun and eating a lot while I am stuck in this summer nothingness...

So it was my option.
Maybe after this, I would be able to find myself and give my all for Midterms and Finals.
I will prevail.

:D
So I was intellectually challenged.

Midterms and Finals.
